The Immigrant Family Empowerment Advocacy Guide is a resource guide for immigrant and multilingual families in NYC Public Schools to learn about what it means to place yourself as an active member and leader of your child's academic journey. In this guide, you will have access to knowledge about your rights as immigrant families, different ways to get involved in your child's school, and how to lead for the purpose of change in your school community. This guide aims to affirm all members of a school community as active participants in their own learning and capable of developing the skills to analyze and transform their social realities.
You can download the guide here:

The winter season coincides with an increase in viruses and other illnesses within school communities.

If you require a Face-to-Face letter, please understand that you will need to come to school and show your ID to pick up the letter. We are not able to give the letter to a student to bring home, or to another adult.
Please be aware that you have access to Face to Face letters via your NYC Schools Account (NYCSA). See the below section for information about how to get the information from your NYCSA account. If you need access to your NYCSA account, please contact our Parent Coordinator, Mrs. Reed at HReed2@schools.nyc.gov
Use your NYCSA Account for Face-to-Face Letters:
If an agency does require proof of enrollment or proof of address, a parent/guardian can log into their New York City Schools Account (NYCSA), navigate to the “Details” dropdown and take a screenshot of the “Student” page to present as proof that the student lives at the address and a screenshot of “Enrollment” page to present as proof of their student’s current attendance/enrollment. A parent/guardian can follow the same process for proof of student enrollment required for other uses (e.g. for tax purposes). Screenshots should be supplemented by a letter on school letterhead with any additional information the parent requests.
Please complete the Family Income Inquiry Form online to help make sure WJPS receives full funding. You can update your form is there a change in your family's circumstances.

The DOE takes the confidentiality of information about students very seriously. There are several federal and state laws, such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and New York State Education Law 2-d, and local regulations, such as Chancellor’s Regulation A-820, that protect students’ “personally identifiable information” (PII). These laws also place responsibilities on the DOE and outside parties that are given access to children’s PII, including the requirement for the DOE and schools to provide families with the following annual notices:
